Condition; Aquarelle Red Clouds

by SOROKIN Alexandre

“My work grows out of a deep exploration of human emotions, memory, and the ever-changing nature of our inner world. As a multidisciplinary artist, I strive to capture and translate these fleeting moments into visual forms that transcend time, culture, and language. My practice unfolds as a continuous dialogue between the tangible and the intangible, where the boundaries of emotions are questioned, challenged, and ultimately redefined. I am captivated by the metamorphosis of feelings—their ability to evolve, intertwine, and dissolve into one another. This interest is embodied in the thematic exploration of "La Nature des Sentiments et des Émotions," which continues the visual and conceptual lines of my previous project "Apparitions." Here, I explore the intersections of past and present, physical and metaphysical, seeking to render emotions not as abstract concepts but as living entities that shape our perception of the world and our place within it. The materiality of my work plays a key role in this exploration. I find inspiration in traditional materials such as ceramics and stone, whose tactile qualities evoke a sense of permanence while opening space for transformation. By reimagining these materials in a contemporary context, my pieces become both guardians of memory and catalysts for new narratives. Each sculpture or installation serves as a physical embodiment of the invisible, an echo of a time that never fully vanishes but remains in constant movement, anchored to the present by its very presence. In my recent project "Sui Sentieri della Città Antica." (On the Paths of the Old City), I envision a harmonious interplay between art and architecture, where scattered objects transform spaces into living stories. These artworks—guardians, protectors, echoes of the medieval past—become part of the environment, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the narrative landscape of Latera, the city where this project is rooted. These pieces aim not only to beautify but to create connections, sparking a dialogue between history, tradition, and modernity. I believe that art should not exist in isolation; it should breathe, live, and become part of the lives and histories of those who encounter it. Each piece is an invitation to reflect, to touch, to interact, and ultimately to leave a mark upon it—just as it leaves its mark on those who experience it.”
