A Fulcrum of Thought

In honor of Philip Lewis

by Andy Oram

Once rationality in youth a firm contentious paradox

dominion over thought took hold contrariness considered bold

its bias maintained as if truth which only wisened age unlocks

a turn is taken in its wake

experience new crises flamed attempting now to synthesize

and bring rethought to values old both stories apt and fairly told

so certainty is lastly maimed to trust both thoughts is to be wise
