Eco-Green School, Kenya

by Elizabeth Zhivkova

Eco-Green School is in the heart of Mbogolo village, Ganda location, Malindi. It was founded in 2021 to provide education because schools are far in the radius of 5-7 kilometers, which discouraged learning because of a long walking distance under the scorching sun. The current enrollment stands at 140 children, from grades 1-4 with 4 teachers respectively. The school is still growing with construction work underway to prepare more room and facilities. Besides education, the school also promotes socio-economic activities through providing employment opportunities and advice on matters related to education and general issues. This is very significant and is slowly shaping and changing the perspectives of the community. The school has been realized through the social innovation of the volunteer programme.
