Roots; Kaleidoscope

“My name is Sophia Thurman and I am currently a high school student based in Southern California. I enjoy making colorful art that reflects my background and culture, and many of my works focus on portraits that tie to my Hispanic heritage. I use a variety of mediums, including watercolor, ink, acrylic paint, and charcoal. ‘Roots’ is done in acrylic paint, and is a portrait of a woman and her baby wearing traditional Mexican Chiapaneca dresses. ‘Kaleidoscope’ is done in watercolor, ink, and acrylic paint, and is a portrait of an African tribesman wearing traditional tribal jewelry.”
